Mentioned in author Taylor Brown’s
interview on Revolution John

Eric and his novel, Above All Men, received a glowing mention by author Taylor Brown in an interview for the literary journal, Revolution John. Taylor had this to say about Eric’s work:
There are two writers recently who have been kicking in my teeth: Eric Shonkwiler and Charles Dodd White. Shonkwiler’s Above All Men floored me pretty good. Like I said in my review of it, a lot of writers draw comparisons to Cormac McCarthy (probably my biggest influence), but few really bring those goods to the table. Shonkwiler does, and he does it with such restraint that, at times, the writing just quivers on the page like a flexed muscle.”
