Above All Men Excerpt

Verdad Magazine has just released its 8th issue, and an excerpt of my novel Above All Men is included.

I’m very proud to be published alongside the likes of Dixie Salazar, Frank X. Gaspar, and am particularly proud to share a publication with Ricardo Zamorano Baez, a classmate of mine who is a phenomenal poet and, it would seem, an excellent writer as well.  Also in this issue is a short story by Robin Russin, a professor at UCR who is an all-around great guy.  I’m extremely happy with this, and will be reading from my excerpt in Long Beach tomorrow morning.

As an aside– things have been busy lately, but I fully intend to bring you all up to speed on my life as soon as I get a moment’s pause.

That rocks, E. Headed over there myself.

Awesome! I can’t wait until it’s finished! I dunno if this makes any sense but the voice is “slicker” than that of Long Way Home excerpt I read from Amazon. Distinct style, for sure, but refined much more differently it seems.

Finally got around to reading it today (a long week…). Very nice. A real stillness to the narrative voice, if that makes sense. As if you are looking at events through a lens, from a distance.

    Thanks all.

You know, my professors would call that one of my problems, Clownfish. I’m told I need to let go more.

That’s interesting E. I like the effect you achieve with it. As if you pressed the world between panes of glass.

I let go too much, cut back in the second draft. Though still probably let go too much.
